| During the late sixties and through much of the seventies I and a number of fellow gunners and vagabonders, building dreams of "fragile stuff," spent many summer and even a few winter weeks on various beaches in the Caribbean, Florida or Marj's "pond" in Louisiana. A variety of folks were often found in my house, usually in need of food, money or succor. (often crashed our sofas or floor).
We took hundreds of photographs. Now some time long ago I discovered that most of my prints taken during that era are rapidly losing their colors. I have no idea about the slides which are stored in outside lockers. I have set about the task of refurbishing and putting into digital form some of those most precious to me. I will be uploading some that I find attractive and hope that others may find pleasure, though the memories and the wildness of spirit cannot be conveyed. Other than the few in which I appear I took the photographs using most of the time Ektachrome transparency or print film. The 35mm with one of two Zeiss SLRs, when they were working, and the others with various fixed focus Kodak ordinary range finders. |
