MAKE ROOM
Man, proud man, rational animal, prods, pokes, and
pries into everything. Names, identifies, quantifies,
inquires into the what, when, who and why of
natural and supernatural events.

We have instruments, wonderful instruments, that
allow us to look outward into space, to see
backward in time to the point just after the
beginning, to where unorganized, wispy clouds of
universes yet to be are seen. Space was postulated
to be smooth but it is not. Architectural anomalies.
unaccountable structures and walls are now
perceived.

With other instruments we can peer inward, inward
through seemingly solid mater, through steel
and stones, through the bodies of living beings.
We find inner space to be as vast, as void of
physical matter as outer.

Thought, consciousness, intelligence, information,
once believed to belong solely within the brain,
imbedded within its cells, now known to be
contained in the synaptic spaces between. Surely, in
all the vastness of time, space and intellect we can
make room for God!

I, ODYSSEUS
I have heard you
Whistling in the dark
Temple at once
Remembered the old refrain
Circe's siren song sounding
Sweetly on yielding
Young girl lips
starTemps me
Not.

I, Odysseus

Older now
Will return to my own
Ithaca where my good wife
Waits not in vain nor will I
Fail to acknowledge that
Ancient animal my
Faithful
Dog.

INSOMNIA

It has been said

Its
Either easy
Or
Its impossible
Writing words
Poetry in particular
Finding God.

God
What to do
About Rwanda
Cholera in Goma
AIDS in Atlanta.
Its impossibly
easy to evade.

Its
Either easy
Or
Its impossible
Insuring immortality
Seeking sleep
Its impossible.
